Welcome to my Practice!
About Me
I am a licensed psychologist (NYS 4447). I attended New York University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. My studies included a major in neuroscience, which was my focus for the first years following my degree. I soon realized combining neuroscience with clinical psychology and learning how to work with people was what I really wanted to do. My postdoctoral psychotherapy training was at an institute that features an integrative approach to psychotherapy. My training included clinical experience with the different psychotherapies (psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, behavioral, gestalt, cognitive behavioral). The clinical approach was to use whatever treatment modalities were appropriate for any given individual at the particular stage of their emotional journey. I have found working with people on this basis to be interesting, exciting, and beneficial to helping them reach their goals. I work with adults (over 18) in individual, group, and family therapy. My background in neuroscience affords me unique insights into using psychopharmocology in conjunction with psychotherapy.
I have experience helping individuals of all adult ages through many of life’s adjustments including grief, loss, trauma, anxiety and depression. Helping people with relationship issues has been one of the major issues dealt with in therapy. My practice has been a source of tremendous satisfaction, intellectual and emotional challenge, and nurture to both the people I work with and myself. I have always enjoyed teaching, and therapy often seems to me to be a postgraduate course in feelings - how they work, how to be aware of them, and how to learn to not be afraid of them and to use them to enrich your life.

Treatment Philosophy
I offer a personalized highly-trained approach to psychotherapy. The way I work is highly interactive and collaborative. The goal is to deal with whatever you need to deal with and help you make whatever changes are necessary to reach that goal. A lot of what happens in psychotherapy is helping people become aware of things they are not aware of – helping them be in touch with who they are. These ‘things’ are generally memories and feelings, and feelings work differently from thoughts. In the words of psychology, making the unconscious conscious. These kinds of insights enable people to break long standing patterns of behavior that are not in their own best interest and to be in control of their own destiny in a way that was not possible before. Each treatment is a holistic approach enabling self-actualization in all areas of one’s life – personal, professional, and relational.
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process and the most important single determinant in the success of therapy is how comfortable you feel with your therapist. I encourage you to find the professional with whom you feel the most comfortable. Any initial consultation should be viewed from that perspective. If you don’t get ‘lucky’ on the first one, having a few more to be sure is an excellent idea. I wish you success on your journey and would welcome the opportunity to be part of it.
